Section speed control on the Polish roads

Section speed control, also called average speed control or "point-to-point" control is a new speed enforcement technique. Section speed control systems measure the average speed between two speed cameras. The distance between the two cameras is usually 2-5 kilometres. The vehicle is identified when entering the enforcement section, and again when leaving it. The average speed can be calculated based on the time interval between these two points.

In Poland new information signs indicate that average speeds are being measured on the road section. The table also indicates the start and the end of the speed measurement. An additional sign informs drivers about the distance between the two cameras (length of the section speed control).
